Care Guide.

Ruby Taglight LDN’s pieces are made to last a lifetime. All jewellery will show signs of wear over time, but here are some tips on how to keep your jewellery looking fresh.

Wearing your pieces:
Precious metals and gemstones can be affected by chemicals such as lotions, sun creams, perfume, and soap. It is advised to put your jewellery on last, after dressing. It is recommended to remove jewellery before heavy exercise, swimming, washing up, showering etc.

As with all jewellery, stone settings should be check occasionally. If there are any signs of movement, please return your piece to Ruby to adjust, or approach your local jeweller. All stones are set with the utmost care, to exacting standards, either by Ruby of one of her highly trained stone setters, however Ruby Taglight LDN cannot be held responsible for the loss of stones after purchase.

With plated pieces, take extra care to remove the pieces before using perfumes, chemicals, sun creams, bathing, exercise, as this will preserve the plating on the piece. It is normal for plating to slowly fade over time, the speed of this will depend on how you wear your piece. Gold plating is a semi-permanent layer on top of sterling silver. Plating should, with correct treatment, last for 6-12 months. Please see here for re-plating services.

How do I clean my jewellery?
Most pieces of jewellery can be cleaned with a soft, non-abrasive cloth wiped over the piece. For dirt stuck under stones, or for a more thorough clean, use an old toothbrush and warm, soapy water. Pat the jewellery dry.

How to store jewellery:
It is recommended that when you are not wearing your pieces, they are kept in a cool, dark, dry place, and stored individually- ideally the pouch or box the piece came in.
